Christmas Dinner and Dance 2023

Building on the success of last year’s Dinner and Dance, which followed a break for the coronavirus disruptions, the Star Cargo group in Dover came together to enjoy a happy evening last Saturday.

Colleagues from Harbour Shipping’s teams – Road Freight, Ferry Booking, Deep Sea and Admin - joined our sister companies Husk and Freightlane. Together with wives, husbands and partners, the event attracted nearly 220 people so we returned to one of Dover’s largest venues: the Holiday Inn at Whitfield where we had such a good time last year.

Star Cargo Managing Director Mr Tom James gave the speech after dinner and praised the companies’ remarkable performances during 2023 illustrated with British sporting highlights this year. He looked forward to some major developments coming in 2024. This was followed by the raffle, then the band started to play so the dance floor filled up. The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Harbour Shipping Director Steve Applebee said,

“This has been a sparkling year for Harbour Shipping, both for the business and, of course, celebrating our 40th Anniversary through the year. The Christmas Dinner is always a great way to round off the year. We work hard all year so it’s nice to let our hair down occasionally. We have some interesting developments coming in 2024 and I’m very optimistic about the coming year. Watch this space!”

Thanks are due to Star Cargo for holding the event and to Harbour Shipping Director Steve Cummings for organising it so well to accommodate so many people. The Holiday Inn at Whitfield did us proud with decorations and service, festive food and drinks.
