Mandatory vignette to drive in Paris as of 16.01.2017

As of Monday 16 January 2017, a vignette will be mandatory to drive in Paris.
This new scheme covers all vehicles registered in Europe (cars, coaches, trucks, vans, etc.).
The vignette (to be placed on the lower right side of vehicle window) will be mandatory for driving in Paris (entire city) from Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 8 PM for vehicles of less than 3.5t, and 7 am to 7pm for vehicles of more than 3.5t.
The different categories of vignettes, based on the EURO class of the vehicles, will benefit from different driving and parking facilitations in case of pollution peak.
EURO III vehicles are still allowed in the city until 1 July 2017.
The absence of vignette can be subject to a fine (max. EUR 135).
Enforcement and sanctions will start only a few weeks after the 16 January date to ensure that, in particular foreign transport operators have had the necessary time to obtain their vignettes.
How to obtain your vignette
You can obtain your vignette via this link (until beginning of January, available for vehicles registered in France only). The procedure to order vignettes for foreign vehicles will be open later in January 2017.
First week of January: a new module for foreign registered vehicles should be added to the website of the French Government (firstly in English, then in German).
Another module for collective demands for fleets of more than 50 vehicles should be added to the website at a later stage.
To obtain the vignette, only the registration document of the vehicle will be needed.
The vignette will cost EUR 4.18 and will be sent to applicants by post to the address indicated on the registration document of the vehicle.
Please contact the IRU Secretariat ([email protected]) should you need assistance or more information.
